01. The Third Life

The Third Life is a film by my production company, The Sandbagos (SUNBEAM 2022). In preparation for a larger project, we have produced a 40-minute featre in two parts..

'Part 1: the Boy' follows young William (Alfie Rose) as he explores the wild just beyond the gates of his father's estate. William discovers that the world outside of the comfort he is used to is full of natural beauty and harsh realities, many of which leave him questioning everything he thought he knew about his mother.

'Part 2: the Lady' follows William's mother, Beatrice (Roseanna Frascona), and her affair with a farmhand; David (Jacob Mellers). Upon being invited to dinner in the manor house, David soon feels as though he is being used to prove a point to the house staff. Confronted by the farmer, Beatrice accepts her mistake, and the two bear their hearts, contemplating what their relationship with one other, and with the natural world, could mean.
